Hand-written messages like these honored the memory of Larry Southern.

The Houston boys’ basketball team honored the memory of Larry Southern Friday night by wearing black wristbands and writing personal messages on their tennis shoes.

Among the messages were “We miss you” and “Rest in peace LS.”

Houston coach Brent Hall said the wristbands were his idea. The players wrote the messages on their own.

“It really bothered some of our kids –– even ones that you didn’t know Larry had an effect on,” Hall said.
