David Foster will wear his No. 23 HHS baseball jersey when he is laid to rest Wednesday.

Foster, a 2009 graduate, was a four-year member of the Tigers’ baseball team. It was his favorite sport, and it will be the theme of his funeral service.

Baseballs will be available for those attending tonight’s visitation or Wednesday’s service to sign. They will be kept by the family as a memorial. His close friends and teammates on the baseball team –– J.R. Knetzer, Trevor and Travis Swearengin, Kirk Pierce, Caleb Smith, David Weybright, Brad Pounds and Chris Mooney –– will serve as pallbearers. He will be buried in a red casket.

HHS baseball coach Brent Hall, who was in Alabama with returning members of the baseball team for a clinic and camp when Foster was killed, said the No. 23 will be taken out of circulation. He said the number may never be available again.
