Members of Joe Diffie’s entourage play Monopoly during a stay in Houston.

One of the top names in country music recently had a secret stay at a local bed and breakfast.

Joe Diffie and his entourage –– consisting of his band and sound crew –– stayed at the Pond Trail Farm Guesthouse before performing June 22 at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds. The country star stayed at the facility on the condition that the visit was kept a secret until they left.

Owners Howard and Barbara Hughes never saw Diffie in person. He stayed in his coach. According to his crew, he eats, sleeps, checks his e-mail and social media and plays computer games.

The sound crew and band were more outgoing and an “absolute delight,” according to the Hughes. They ate everything set in front of them and asked for seconds, played monopoly and whiffle ball, and timed how long it took to shear a sheep.

The crew said it was the best stay they’ve had in weeks, since they are usually stuck in a small motel with nothing to do, according to the Hughes
