The cleanup from a wind storm that downed trees May 8 in the Houston area continues.
However, some trees are still toppling. This cluster of four oak trees are down at the Joe and Kate Richardson residence on Hawthorn Street. Three of them fell Tuesday – apparently unstable after the earlier storm.
G-ma's trees 1Houston’s former city dump on East Highway 17 is open to accept tree debris from the storm, which is estimated to have caused more than $1 million in damage in the area.

Texas County may have dodged a bullet despite nasty roads in the area. Further south the situation is grim, reports MoDOT this afternoon. It says U.S. 63 south of the Arkansas line in Sharp County is closed to commercial traffic due to low hanging power lines. Passenger vehicles are allowed, but MoDOT says to use extreme caution. An alternate route is advised. 

We’re told a message board has been placed at Willow Springs to warn southbound traffic.
